A New York company announced that it is recalling nearly 1,000 pounds of pork products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
Long Island-based Hempstead Foodservice is recalling approximately 972 pounds of pork chop products that may contain hydrolyzed soy protein, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.
The heat-treated fresh pork chop items subject to recall were produced at various times between Tuesday, April 6 and Friday, April 30, and were distributed to grocery stores and restaurants in New York.
Items subject to recall include 10-41 lb. cardboard boxes containing the product in clear plastic bags with “Hempstead Foodservice” on the box and “PORK CHOPS” marked from the list on the side of the box (see above).
Bellisio Foods Recalls Beef Pasta Products
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Bellisio Foods, Inc. is recalling around 3,927 pounds of not-ready-to-eat or NRTE spaghetti with meat sauce product citing misbranding and undeclared soy, a known allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture s Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS said.
The recall involves 8.5-oz paperboard tray with lid packages containing Michelina s Spaghetti with Meat Sauce with lot code J1112N8, BEST BY 22APR2022 , and a UPC code of 7 17854 10503 9 on the bottom label. The frozen, NRTE spaghetti with meat sauce items were produced on April 22.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number EST. 18297 inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations across the United States.
Hempstead Foodservice Recalls Pork Products
The product contains hydrolyzed soy protein, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The recall involves 10-41 lb. carboard boxes containing the product in clear plastic bags with Hempstead Foodservice on the box and PORK CHOPS marked from the list on the side of the box. The recalled products bear establishment number EST. 47142 inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The heat-treated fresh pork chop items were produced on various dates between April 6 and April 30. The items were shipped to grocery stores and restaurants in New York. The products are cooked at these retailers and then further sold to consumers.
Hempstead FoodService Pork Chops Recalled For Allergens
Hempstead Foodservice of Hempstead, New York, is recalling about 972 pounds of pork chops because they are misbranded and contain soy, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. The product actually contains hydrolyzed soy protein. That means that anyone who is allergic to soy could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions received by the company to date in connection with the consumption of this item.
The recalled product is heat-treated fresh pork chops that were produced on various dates ranging from April 6, 2021 to April 30, 2021. The recalled product is ten 41 pound cardboard boxes that contain the product that is packed in clear plastic bags. The words “Hempstead Foodservice” are stamped on the box and “Pork Chops” is marked from the list on the side of the box.
