The Franklin County Board of Supervisors agreed to allocate an additional $150,000 in funding on Tuesday to post deputies in each school in the division throughout the school year.

A local elementary music teacher picked up the ukulele during the pandemic and is now teaching it to all of her students at Henry Elementary School in the Parkway School District.

With 20% of classes lacking central cooling systems, some parents have considered keeping their kids home or staging a walkout amid this week's heat wave.

Schools still awaiting full HVAC installation include Bancroft Middle School and Holmes Elementary School, both of which are scheduled to have air-conditioning ready by next summer, and Avalon K-12 in Catalina, which will be cooled by winter 2023.
