Ebonyi State Government has directed the 13 local government Chairmen in the State to immediately form local vigilente and put cross bars at strategic locations to fish out criminal elements and assist security agents in the LGAs.
Briefing Journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki, the State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji said that EXCO also directed that 100 Neighborhood Watch in each local government be deployed to effectively police the various communities.
Barr. Orji stated that the vigilente group would not carry arms adding that the job of the vigilente would be more of intelligence and to assist the police in carrying out their duties.
