Panamanians remeber the 1989 US invasion

On Dec. 20, 1989, the US carried out its largest invasion of a country since Vietnam. On that evening, nearly 30,000 US troops invaded the country in order to remove the then-president, Manuel Noriega, from power. The invasion centered on the poor neighborhood of El Chorrillo, which surrounded the countryโ€™s main military barracks. The neighborhood was bombed and torched.
