I support autonomy for judiciary, legislature - Gov Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said his administration is in full support of autonomy for Judiciary and Legislative Arms of Government. The Governor stated this on Monday when the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Makurdi branch led by its Chairman, Barrister Justin Gbagir paid him a courtesy visit at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi. He stated that autonomy for the two arms of government is allowed under the constitution and as someone who has respect for the Rule of Law, he would prefer that monies meant for the Judiciary and Legislature be deducted at source. Governor Ortom noted that a framework to that effect was being worked out, expressing the belief that when the process is completed, Nigerian Governors would also key into it.

Daily Post Nigeria Published The indigenous union for Ileogbo, a town in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State, Ileogbo Unity Forum, has reacted to the recent call made by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, for the relocation of Fulani herdsmen into his domain. The union described the call as a threat to the security of lives and property of the people of the area. The ancient forum, which is the central union for Ileogbo indigenes home and in the Diaspora, viewed the call with great concern, saying the people of Ileogbo would not subscribe to the influx of Fulani herdsmen into any part of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Local Government Areas in general and Ileogbo Kingdom in particular.

N429m Road Project: Enugu community drags Fed Perm Sec, contractor, others to court

Daily Post Nigeria Published Indigenes of Oma-Eke Community in Udi Council Area of Enugu State have dragged the Permanent Secretary, Ecological funds office, a contracting firm, Flab Engineering Services Ltd, and others to court over alledged non-execution of a 3.8 kilometre Ecological Fund Road Project. DAILY POST reports that the project valued at over 429 million naira was awarded by the Ecological Funds Office to check ravaging erosion menace in the area. The suit is coming after weeks of protest by members of the community. Also joined as defendants in the case with suit No FHC/EN/CS/ 59/2021, filed at the Federal High Court Enugu, Division, by Counsel to the plaintiffs, Godwin Onwusi, (Esq), are the Attorney General of the Federation, as well as the consulting company, Eco Project Sevices limited.
