The last five years brought a lot of change to the skylines of Mindanao’s cities.
New condominiums and office buildings now dot their respective skylines, housing new investments, business process outsourcing companies and other outfits wishing to relocate some of their capacity outside of the NCR Plus into these new landscapes. This, I believe is even made even more apparent as companies adapt to the new normal. Having alternative locations helps them adapt to changing conditions, especially for BPOs. Likewise, a higher demand for property means more employees whose needs will need to be met, driving local demand for amenities and food supply.

SunStar February 07, 2021 THE City Government of Davao’s intent to improve the public transportation system of the city has been quite visible in the past couple of years. Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio, in her State of the City Address in the last two years, has expressed commitment to make sure to put everything in place to launch the High Priority Bus System (HPBS) and pave way for the improvement of public transport in the city.
In 2019, the city introduced the Peak Hours Augmentation Bus System (Phabs) to address the public transportation woes of those living in Toril and Catalunan Grande. Routes were later added for Calinan, Cabantian, and Lasang.

DAVAO CITY – Seven modern electric and fully-air conditioned Business for Environmentally Sustainable Transformation (BEST) Buses have started plying the streets of downtown Davao City, offering free rides to local passengers for six months.

During her live interview over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR 87.5), Mayor Sara Duterte said that the e-buses have started servicing local passengers since last Monday after she and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) president and chief operating officer Rodger S. Velasco signed a memorandum of agreement for the BEST Bus Project.
