Ever since the Indian Air Force (IAF) started inducting the Rafale fighter jets, Chinese government-controlled propaganda machinery and the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have been running a narrative projecting the latest variant of the China-Pak JF-17 fighter as an equivalent of the French-made ‘Omnirole aircraft’.
The China-designed and substantially-produced JF-17 ‘Thunder’ is the crown jewel of China-Pak aviation relations and the first major defense product for sale. Such comparison can thus also be seen as a sales pitch. There is thus a need to look at the technical specifications to allay such thoughts.

3 more Rafale jets land in India after flying 7000 km The third batch of three Rafale aircraft landed at an IAF base a short while ago. They flew over 7000Km with in-flight refuelling. The third batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed in India after flying non-stop from France. This is expected to further boost the strike capability of the Indian Air Force as India and China are engaged in a border standoff in eastern Ladakh.

New Delhi: A third batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed in India on Wednesday evening after flying non-stop from France, in what will come as a boost to the Indian Air Force’s capability at a time when India and China are engaged in a bitter border standoff in eastern Ladakh.
With the arrival of the new batch, the number of Rafale aircraft in IAF has increased to 11.

The Rafale jets are capable of carrying a range of potent weapons. European missile maker MBDA s Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air missile, Scalp cruise missile and MICA weapons system will be the mainstay of the weapons package of the Rafale jets. The IAF is also procuring a new generation medium-range modular air-to-ground weapon system Hammer to integrate with the Rafale jets.
