Southend roads being resurfaced during July

It forms part of Southend Council’s £5m programme of works to improve roads in the borough. Highways contractor, Marlborough, will be repairing and re-laying full roads and stretches of roads that require “immediate attention” between now and March next year. A total of 30 roads and 31 pavements are due to have been resurfaced by the end of the programme. The dates of this months road closures have yet to be announced, but Southend Council says two-week notice will be given for each one. Works for the following roads are planned throughout July: London Road/ Milton Junction – including North Road and Milton Road

Car parked dangerously in Westcliff removed by police

PCSO s came across the poorly parked BMW when out on patrol in Westcliff over the weekend.  The vehicle, which had been left in Hamlet Court Road, was deemed to be both dangerous and an obstruction by the officers.  They tweeted: PCSO s were out on patrol over the weekend when they attended an incident reporting a car not only causing an obstruction but also parked dangerously blocking part of a junction on Hamlet Court Road.  This was removed by officers to prevent a potential accident. The Highways Code states motorists cannot wait or park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space .
