Doctor: Vaccinated woman likely died from underlying condition

The 75-year-old woman who died from COVID-19 Sunday received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine in May, according to governor’s spokeswoman Krystal Paco-San Agustin. The woman, who had underlying health conditions, tested positive for the virus on July 7, according to the Joint Information Center. She died at Guam Regional Medical City. Dr. Hoa V. Nguyen of American Medical Center urged people to continue to get vaccinated. “She’s the first woman fully vaccinated that passed away,” said Nguyen, chairman of the governor’s physicians advisory group. “We always said that even if you are fully vaccinated, you are 95% (protected), but you still have 5% that you can get infected.”
