Princeton University’s Baccalaureate, an interfaith service that is one of the University’s oldest traditions, opened three days of end-of-year ceremonies for the Class of 2023.  

President Tessier-Lavigne offered the final stamp of approval for proposed changes to the Honor Code, including a study into proctoring. The changes would supersede the Faculty Senate’s previous motion permitting the implementation of full-scale proctoring in the fall. ChatGPT was also debated at the meeting.

After twice rejecting the C12’s proposed changes to the Honor Code, the Undergraduate Senate (UGS) voted in its Tuesday meeting to accept the changes and a small-scale proctoring study. Their approval is expected to supersede the Faculty Senate’s motion for full-scale proctoring.

The faculty-led advisory committee will solicit feedback from the Stanford community on potential candidates to succeed Persis Drell as provost. Community members have until June 3 to submit their feedback to the advisory committee.

The Faculty Senate broke from a 102-year precedent of shared governance at Stanford last month by passing a motion to allow exam proctoring. The Undergraduate Senate will vote on Tuesday on a set of proposals by the Committee of 12, which could supersede the Faculty Senate’s motion while temporarily permitting proctoring strictly for research purposes; if these proposals fail, the Faculty Senate’s proctoring motion will be enacted in the fall.
