Police investigate brutal murder of young construction worker in Corozal

A construction worker, identified as 21-year-old Romulo Antonio Barillas, was found dead on Friday, February 2, 2024, in a bushy area near 3rd Street North, Corozal. The Corozal Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) reported that Barillas' body, dressed in a black T-shirt, long jeans, a black rag tied around his head, and brown boots, was discovered lying on its left side, exhibiting severe chop wounds to the head, face, and neck. The incident occurred approximately 25 feet from the street, where the young man from Trial Farm, Orange Walk Town, met a violent end.
