The race for Dearborn mayor this fall will probably be between a 31-year-old state representative and a 66-year-old veteran politician.
In a stunning win, State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud, D-Dearborn, got 8,774 votes, 42.36% of the vote among seven candidates running for mayor in Dearborn, according to Dearborn City Clerk George Darany.
Former State Representative and former Wayne County Commissioner Gary Woronchak came in second with 3,764 votes, 18.17% of the vote.
The top two candidates of the primary advance to the November election. The primary and general election are non-partisan contests.
Darany provided the Free Press with the results at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
