The U.S. has intelligence of a national security threat related to Russian nuclear capabilities in space which could threaten U.S. satellites, hamper U.S. military communications and reconnaissance, Fox News has learned.

One of the handful of members of Congress with the most access to America’s secrets warned of a "serious national security threat" on Wednesday. Leaders have since described it as “serious but not urgent.” Nick Schifrin reports.

US News: US intelligence shows that Russia is discussing the possibility of basing a nuclear weapon in space. While the conclusions are significant and US officials are taking the matter seriously, there’s no immediate cause for public alarm.

One U.S. official told CBS News that the intelligence in question relates to Russian capabilities in space.
