In the medical examiner’s report, Dr. Elizabeth Mayrand, Rowan County’s Medical Examiner at the time, listed the cause of death as a stab wound to the head.
Additional deputies arrived on the scene and began searching the vehicle when what appeared to be several pipe bombs were located inside the glove box.
The Chowan County Sheriff's office said the victim is Amarriah Smith, 19, a student at Elizabeth City State University, which is on the coast of North Carolina.
