WATCH: WWII Veteran Receives over 1,200 Cards for His 100th Birthday 16 Jan 2021 A World War II veteran in North Charleston, South Carolina, got a huge surprise for his 100th birthday this week. Hugh Keller hoped to get around 100 cards to celebrate his milestone but was overwhelmed when more than 1,200 cards from people in all 50 states and four countries arrived at his home, according to WISTV. “I’ll be counting them till my next birthday!” he said when he learned how many were delivered. The North Charleston Government shared a video of the big reveal to its Facebook page on Wednesday. “That one’s from Belgium,” a woman who delivered the cards told Keller.

Star Spangled Salute: 1200 Cards for a Veteran

  Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors World War II Veteran Hugh Keller.  The other day Hugh had a birthday and he got cards, A LOT of cards.  Hugh joked he would be counting and reading cards till his next birthday.  It all started when Hugh said he hoped to receive 100 cards to mark his 100th birthday. Instead, thanks to social media he received over 1200 cards from all 50 states and 4 different countries.  Hugh said he expected his 100th birthday to be just another birthday, nice to see the kindness of strangers proved him wrong.  Congratulations Hugh and THANK YOU for your service.

But more than 1,200 cards, sent from all 50 states and four countries were delivered to his home. The city of North Charleston posted the delivery and his reaction on its Facebook page. The goal was 100 cards for this WWII Veteran s 100th birthday. We ended up receiving 1200 cards with one from each state and four different countries!
