Boozy retro soda shop headed to Washington Avenue The minds behind Henderson & Kane, the upscale neighborhood market just south of Washington Avenue, have big expansion plans for the next year. In addition to a second location of H&K, set to open in a yet-to-be0announced location in Spring 2022, owners John and Veronica Avila will open a Prohibition-inspired old-fashioned soda shop, ice cream parlor and speakeasy bar on Washington Avenue. The bar, called Old Sixth, will open at 2111 Washington Avenue in early 2022, and will serve up fancy sodas, ice cream splits, boozy milkshakes and small bites like tableside fondue, according to the bar’s Kickstarter. By night, Old Sixth will take one more of a speakeasy vibe, with classic cocktails and jazz music.

Toro Toro, 1300 Lamar, will open at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston in fall 2021. This will be the sixth location for the concept. The hotel has partnered with Richard Sandoval Hospitality to bring his award-winning global Pan-Latin Steakhouse to Houston. It will open in the hotel’s revamped third floor restaurant space, replacing Quattro, the now-closed Italian restaurant known for its spectacular brunches.. Toro Toro is a combination of the Japanese word for tuna and the Spanish word for bull, representing a menu that will feature seafood and steaks. With vibrant Pan-Latin flavors from Rodizio-style Churrasco and creative shareable small plates, the new restaurant will also take inspiration from the convivial dining culture of Central and South America. Slated to open in late 2021, State Fare will occupy the former California Pizza Kitchen space in Hughes Landing s Restaurant Row, where it will join establishments such as Fogo de Chao, Del Friscos Grille, and Truluck s. Design firm Gensler, who created the company s Sugar Land location, will oversee the buildout.  Like its siblings in Memorial and Sugar Land, The Woodlands location will feature an expansive patio. Diners will have a view of Lake Woodlands, and the patio will also serve as a venue for enjoying the area s seasonal Rock The Row concert series.
