May 13, 2021 Huron, S.D. – South Dakota State Fair is making changes to the open class beef show at the 2021 State Fair.Due to the fire that destroyed the Open Class Beef Complex and the transition to the DEX: Dakota Events CompleX, the 2021 open class beef show is being held Tuesday, August 31 and Wednesday, September 1 in the 4-H Livestock Complex. May 12, 2021 The third day in a series looking at Covid 19 vaccination numbers.  The CDC is recommending completed vaccinations of 75 to 85 percent for “herd immunity”.  Dr Joe Carr with Carr Chiropractic Clinic and medical representative on the Beadle County Covid 19 task force looks at another reason some may think they do not need to consider the series.  People who have a strong immune system might believe they are better able to fight off the virus.

Hoffmans husband bought an older hay grinder that is used once a year to prepare the Styrofoam for use.  The Covid Pandemic caused a shortage of supplies including access to the amount of Styrofoam that they use.  That brought them to accepting Styrofoam donated to them.   East river nursery on their Facebook page has a video of the process of grinding the Styrofoam for use as a soil mixture. April 19, 2021 The process for coping with the loss of a loved one is not the same for everyone as we all grieve in our own way.  Earlier in April a 10 week grief support group program completed its first run.  Jenny Sorben felt the need for a grief support program to be held locally.  She said the program was well received.

April 13, 2021 The Huron City and Huron school board combined election totaled 1069 voters absentee and at the lone poling location, the Huron Arena.  In the city commission race the one seat being filled will be by Drew Weinreis with 376 votes, Sarah Rogers vote total was 356 with Bridget Carr taking 227 votes.  In the school board election the two incumbents return to the board.  Kristi Glanzer had a vote total of 770, Tim Van berkum had 596 and Rex Sawvell garnered 479.
