As of the end of March 2021, as the world is still
struggling to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, some
governments are still taking advantage of the states of
emergency to crack down on activists and opponents. Not to
mention, the pandemic has not prevented the continuation of
armed attacks on civilians in the Arab world over the last
year, while rates of domestic violence have increased
dramatically due to home quarantine measures and their
consequences.
However, despite the continuing
large-scale violations in the Middle East and North Africa
(MENA), it is important to recognize the small steps that
