Appoint LASU VC on merit, dons tell Sanwo-Olu Published 13 March 2021 Some members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, have appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to pick the best candidate among the three nominees submitted to him for the position of a substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution. The academics, who referred to themselves as ‘the liberators,’ made the request at a press conference in LASU, ahead of the imminent announcement of a new VC. The joint-selection committee, headed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Adebayo Ninalowo, had on Thursday completed its assignment and submitted to the governor the names of nominees considered to be the most successful among the eight candidates who took part in the final interview held at the institution’s college of medicine.

Selection of new LASU VC: Stakeholders call for transparency On By Adesina Wahab A group, The Liberators, has called on the Lagos State government to choose the best candidate for the position of the Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, LASU, among those jostling for the position. The group also said there should be no special consideration for any contender. This followed the Computer-Based Test conducted for the shortlisted candidates on Thursday at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja. Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in LASU, Prof. Ibrahim Bakare, urged the Visitor to the institution, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to select the best candidate who would not only maintain the peace being enjoyed now but prioritise workers’ welfare and take the institution to enviable heights.

LASU professors advocate ‘best candidate’ as new vice-chancellor March 12, 2021 Some concerned professors at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, have appealed to the Lagos State Government to select the best and ‘first position’ candidate for the position of vice-chancellor for the institution. The professors, who are known as, ‘Liberators’ alongside the Academic Staff Union of Universities Lagos State University Chapter (ASUU-LASU) made the plea at a news briefing on Friday in Lagos. Adeleke Fakoya, Professor of English language, urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to select whoever comes first from the selection and interview for the position of a new vice-chancellor. Fakoya, also the coordinator of the Liberators, said they would support the best candidate that would be given the position.
