The longest-serving librarian at UCLA says despite new technology, her mission to help students find information remains the same.

A contentious proposal to strip school employees and public librarians of a legal defense against charges they distributed harmful materials to children has stalled. But its possible the language could resurface and be voted on by members of the full House.

Senate Bill 12 took an unexpected twist this past week.

Although the book on pronouns wasn't taken out of circulation or banned, many residents were outraged, calling its removal from the display censorship.

The bill seeks to implement criminal penalties against school librarians and teachers who provide students with material deemed to be “obscene.”

"The Crown Point library collection does not include material that meets the definition of obscene or pornographic material," said Director Julie Wendorf.
