that gridlock is not being caused by both parties but by one party. the turning away from the middle class is dominated by one party. the refusal to do things that even mainstream republicans did, like unemployment insurance, like minimum wage increases, even five years ago, is hurting them. and our politics works. it works slowly. it s like ice melting, unfortunately. but it does work, and i can sense signs where it s really beginning to work. as i walk the streets of new york this weekend, average folks said to me, get that unemployment insurance done. these were people with jobs. they were middle class people. but everyone now knows somebody who s been out of work. and one other point, you know, one of my colleagues, rand paul, said that unemployment insurance is a disservice to the american worker. well, i find that insulting. what he s saying is that people would rather not work. and collect these meager unemployment benefits. that is not true. there is a work ethos in america. it

a new global report is the latest proof behind these pictures. ice melting, glaciers shrinking as ocean temperatures rise. climate change is happeningering according to 2500 pages from the intergovernmental panel of climate change. first part of the report, it just came out today. nearly 1,000 researchers back it up, and just as many vetted this report. and there are big conclusions, 95% confident humans are causing the earth to heat up in the last 50 years. 2001-2010, was the warmest on record. continuing the trend of global warming. more temperature records were broken than in any other previous decade.
all right. take a look at this. this is pretty amazing stuff. this is a stunning view of the antarctic. look at this. scientists went on a two-month study expedition to study the unique ecosystem. and they took video the whole way. so these images, they ve now been condensed into remarkable time lapse pictures. and they capture really a world of extremes. this is where very few people can go and get to. you have huge blocks of ice threaten to trap the ship at times. and temperatures of course go down to minus 40. in the summer the sun was out 24/7. that s got to ruin your day, doesn t it? a little. what was that movie? anyway, the plankton blooms got so large you can see that from outer space. a lot of worries about a lot of this ice melting more and more every year. and you can see just a few of
