Wednesdays tornado warning for Winnebago County caused a lot of confusion. I live in Cherry Valley Township and when I received this text yesterday from my husband who was working, Im not going to lie, I was thoroughly confused.   A tornado warning, what? Our neighborhood sirens didnt go off...my phone didnt do the obnoxiously loud alert..is my husband messing with me? I then did what any person does during extreme weather events, I hopped on Facebook to see what local meteorologists were sayi...

Rockford isnt Chicago for so many reasons other than the obvious, the name. One of the trials of living in the windy city is the traffic, its absolutely crazy. Stop, go, stop, honk, go, honk, honk, stop, go, stop, repeat. Rockford doesnt have anything near the troubles of Chicagos traffic except for traffic lights. Getty Images One problem Rockford does have, like many other big "small" cities (or is it small "big" cities?) are people speeding down stretches of roads. I spent my childhood and h...

Theres something special about food from a food truck. You know what Im talking about. Its special because its actually made on the truck or at least its made so that it travels well! How many times, especially in the last year did you realize that not all food travels well... Im talking to you breakfast restaurants. Fried eggs do not travel well, in case you didnt attempt that in 2020. But you know what does travel well? Churros! A churro packed with fruity pebbles and Oreos. La Calle Churro T...

Theres something special about downtown Rockford. No matter what type of event happening when theres a big crowd the diversity in our city is evident. Yes, there is shopping (and lots of it), there is food (and lots of it), and en...

Each and every one of them is so cool to look at. They really add color to Rockford and Im so here for it. MURALS ARE EVERYWHERE IN ROCKFORD As far as Im concerned, this is the O.G. It only went up a few years ago, and while it did require a bit of cleanup, This mural one of the most noticeable and popular pai...

5 Intersections In Rockford That Should Be Roundabouts There was another accident in the Auburn roundabout the other day.  Ive always been astonished by the perception of the Auburn roundabout, it has many detractors. Its understandable. Not every fender bender is reported but every fender bender in the roundabout is worthy of at least a blurb on social media. Its pretty widely accepted that roundabouts are generally safer and less congested than an intersection with stoplights. The number of ...

This is crazy! There is literally no information as far as who was driving, were they injured, or how did it happen. All we have is security cam footage of a gnarly car vs. building scenario.  The crash took place on the morning of Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 10:06 am, to be exact, in Sycamore. Heres What We Know We know the weather conditions appear to be fine with no rain on the roads, in fact, it looked like a bright sunny day. We know there were witnesses who jumped out of the vehicle with...
