MINT HILL, NC – On Tuesday, July 20, the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce held another monthly Member Luncheon at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
The Mint Hill Chamber Executive Director Paige McKenney welcomed all the participating members attending the event that began at high noon. Kim Rhodarmer from Servant’s Heart led the invocation, and Director Phil Angelo from Leisure Travel Experts led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The lunch was provided by Chick-Fil-A, and raffle ticket gifts were handed out to the winners for some goodies provided by various members. The scheduled speakers of the day were Fire Chief David Leath, and Police Chief Joseph Hatley. Unfortunately, Chief Hatley was unable to attend due to another matter requiring his personal attention. MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) - Two fire trucks were hit, including a fire engine that suffered major damage, in a wreck in Matthews on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 7:19 p.m. and involved two vehicles from the Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department.
Idlewild Fire Chief Brian Wood says the vehicles were driving outbound on Idlewild Road when a car crossed the center line and hit the front of the larger vehicle on the captain’s side.
The car then ran off the road, came back on and collided with the other truck, Wood said.
