Former Heartland chairman Charles Ezekwem has expressed shock that the club still owe coach Fidelis Ilechukwu an outstanding sum of N1.5m in sign-on-fees, The PUNCH reports.
Ezekwem, who stepped aside as chairman of the club in October 2020, revealed that the sum of N5m was approved by his board for coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s sign-on-fees, when he joined the club from MFM in 2019.
He added that the same amount was approved for goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s sign-on-fees when he joined from Katsina United.
Ilechukwu last week stated that he was owed N1.5m in sign-on-fees and five months salaries.
