The Acting Chief judge of Delta State, Justice Theresa Diai, has been sworn in by Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
Administering oath of office and allegiance on Monday, the governor urged the acting CJ to build on the remarkable legacies of her predecessor Justice Marshal Umukoro who retired recently.
The governor eulogised the former Chief judge for his unblemished service to the state.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Barr Kingsley Otuaro, Supreme Court Justice, Hon Justice Samuel Oseji, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly represented by his deputy, Rt Hon Ochor Ochor, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, former Chief Judge of Delta, Hon Justice Roseline Bozimo, the outing CJ, Hon Justice Umukoro.

Dr Joseph Otumara said they were in Asaba to condole with the governor and his family on the unfortunate passing of their patriarch.
Speaking through Chief Solomon Areyinka, the itsekiri people said: We have come to condole with you and your family in this trying time. We received the news of the death of your dear father on Thursday, January 28, 2021 with shock. However, we believe that at 88 years of age, he saw life, confronted it head on and conquered. The success of your father s sojourn on earth is an open secret which came in handy as elements of dedication, focus, discipline and love for humanity.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Barrister Chiedu Ebie, has urged political appointees under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to promote good governance in the state, through effective representation of government policy thrusts.
Speaking at a meeting of political appointees from Delta North senatorial district (Anioma) held in Asaba, Barrister Ebie said Governor Okowa had made a resounding impact in social infrastructure and human empowerment worthy of support by political office holders in the state.
He said the Okowa example was unique and befitting of acclamation, given his historic ascendancy as the first Anioma son to be elected governor of Delta state.
