i can hear you. the rest of the world hears you. and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon. [applause] megyn: part of reason that was so moving is because it touched one emotionally. that people have said has been a surprising weakness of president obama given the way he ran his campaign. the inability to reach people emotionally. i agree, unfortunately that has been a limitation of the president s rhetoric. that clip you showed points to the importance not just of the words which were not high rhetoric in that circumstance. but that the president shared the emotions of the country and expressed them. speak for everybody, speak for the whole nation.
but there is also a meaning that goes beyond this. it s more metaphysical than political. we are talking about the hope that these kind of partings are not final, that there is a hope beyond death. that there is justice in the universe, even when what we are seeing in front of us doesn t seem to indicate there is justice. it tries to bring some context to the moment. not a political context, but a moral and spiritual context. megyn: it is comforting. i know you worked with president bush on that speech which was so well received and has been reviewed well to this day at national cathedral. the moment people remember most is president bush unscripted with the bullhorn on ground zero. we have that cued up. i can hear you.
