Osun govt rescues physically challenged lady locked up for 5 years by parents

By Shina Abubakar A 20-year-old physically challenged woman, Opeyemi Olatoke, locked up in a house by her parents for five years, has been rescued by Osun State government. The father of the girl, Prophet Samson Olatoke, founder of C & S, Ileri Ayo parish in Ikirun, said the lady was locked up due to her health issues. The state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs Bukola Olaboopo, said the ministry busted the building based on a tip-off from a Non-Governmental Organisation in the state. A statement by the commissioner’s media aide, Oyedele Kehinde, said the father of the girl, Prophet Olatoke, disclosed that they decided to lock her up due to her health issue, while her mother explained: “I did not give birth to Opeyemi with a disability, it all started when she was four years old, that day she shouted from her sleep and that was how she became lame.”

Osun Govt Rescues 20-year-old Physically Challenged Woman Locked Up By Family Members For Five Years Her father, identified as Samson Olatoke, who was alleged to have locked up her daughter and her brother, was arrested by the police. A 20-year-old woman, Opeyemi Olatoke, who had been locked inside an abandoned house by her family members for over five years has been rescued by the Osun State government with the help of the Nigeria Police Force. Opeyemi was rescued at her family house located at Alfa Fire area, Oke-Iba-Obaagun Road, in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state. Her father, identified as Samson Olatoke, who was alleged to have locked up her daughter and her brother, was arrested by the police.
