Now, a research roundup published last year in Mayo Clinic Proceedings shows that “sauna bathing” is more than just a good way to chill while you sweat: Many sauna benefits are in fact the same health benefits that you get from exercising. That’s because a sauna tricks your body into responding the same way it does when you’re working out, potentially leading to a whole cascade of physiological changes that can help protect your body from a bunch of chronic diseases, the researchers believe.
