National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed in parts of Gujarat like Kachchh, Navsari, Jamnagar, and Junagadh. 

The IMD on Friday morning said there is a possibility of light to moderate spells of rainfall and thunderstorms in several states including Saurashtra and Kutch, South Gujarat region, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, among others.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the national capital is expected to experience a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain/thundershowers today. 

Mumbai Rains Latest Update: The IMD has also predicted light to moderate spells of rain at isolated places in the districts of Raigad, Thane, Palghar and Mumbai during the next 3-4 hours.

According to IMD data, Mumbai recorded 115 mm of rain till 8.30 pm on Saturday. Of this, only 27 mm was recorded between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm — and 88 mm between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm at IMD's Santa Cruz observatory. The IMD's coastal observatory at Colaba recorded 42 mm of rain.

According to the weather agency Skymet, the severe cyclone Biporjoy will turn into an extremely severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. It will continue to move in the north direction for some time and then take a turn in the north-northwest direction.

A cyclonic storm named Biparjoy is evolving over the Southeast Arabian Sea, posing a risk of a low-pressure area in the region. While the trajectory of the storm is still unknown, experts say that it will influence the advance of the monsoon, which is delayed in the country

IMD weather forecast: This comes as a much-needed respite after days of blistering heatwave that gripped the nation.

The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has predicted increase in rainfall or snowfall activities with possibility of heavy falls over Western Himalayan Region and rainfall activity over plains of Northwest India during 24 to 26 January.
