The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in several Indian states till May 26, in a relief from the heatwave conditions prevailing over the last few days across the country.

As per IMD’s local forecast for the week for Delhi, temperature is expected to come down over the next few days starting Wednesday.

Heatwave in Delhi: The Safdarjung Observatory in Delhi recorded a high temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees higher than the average. -- aaa

The Indian Meteorological Department issued a set of warnings and alerts in the backdrop of Cyclone Mocha. The IMD said a deep depression formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Wednesday morning which moved northwestwards at a speed of 7 kmph. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm over the same region.

It said a cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and another over interior Tamil Nadu. A trough of relatively low pressure runs from northwest Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana.
