that means that the families will be kept together, but they will be kept in detention, potentially, for long periods of time. and that could cause further headaches for the administration. the images aren t going to be great either. there are still going to be kids in detention facilities. and even if you look at the separation of these children, even though the president signed this executive order, it s not like immediately these over 2,000 kids are going to be reunited with their families. there s going to be an implementation phase. the white house had a call about this just a little while ago and it s clear that things aren t quite clear in terms of how this is going to be rolled out. so you imagine we re going to get more stories about kids, vulnerable kids, some in these tender age facilities, who haven t been reunited with their families. i mean, it really is a bureaucratic nightmare. and you mentioned, this is the government, right, that has to handle this. and oftentimes t
63% said yes. and when asked if the government should redistribute wealth by heavily taxing the rich, 52% agrees with that. there seems to be political will for wealth distribution. the question, is there a political way for this? it s difficult, as katon said, in an election. no one wants to say explicitly the ways they will do it, right? oftentimes it will be raising taxes. or let s be clear, democrats benefit from big money in ways that republicans do as well. and so to say, i will tax super rich people, is very difficult. i think the intent is stronger in the democrats. but the implementation in many ways can look similar. it can look similar in sort of the implementation phase once we get to the presidency and how he can or cannot work with congress. the public is very clear on this. the public believes there should
correlated with those who spent the most time studying it. that s in congress and that s out in the private sector. so, again, we think that the more one looks at the agreement with an open mind certainly and analyzes it the more that one comes to support it. now, in going forward, first of all the implementation phase is absolutely critical. indeed, the unique. and very long-term verification agreements that we negotiated of course have the other side of the coin in which it means we have to be prepared for implementing rigorously for a very long time. to guarantee that iran is engaged only in peaceful work. now, the president has said very clearly that the agreement is critical for removing the e existential threat of a nuclear agreement over off the table.
to push it beyond september 17th. what happens if the united states stands alone in not having let this agreement go through? what happens to the rest of the agreement? well, first of all, i certainly have no expectation that we will go beyond the 17th. i have every expectation that we will be entering an implementation phase on what is called adoption day, which is 90 days after the agreement was signed. so that s in the middle of october. and iran, by the way, will have an enormous amount of work to accomplish in that in that time period. so, look, i think we will be going ahead. we will be implementing the agreement. if if for some reason the agreement were not to go ahead and i want to make it very clear, i have every expectation that it s going ahead. if it were not, then i could use the words of brent schocroft, national security adviser to
