According to the General Administration of China, China imported 449,200 mt of zinc concentrate in November (physical content, the same below), up 55,600 mt or 14.13% MoM, and up 21.9% YoY. The imports totalled 3.72 million mt from January to November, a year-on-year growth of 9.15%.

On the whole, China's stainless steel exports performed well in November, with the potential for a slight growth in December.

According to customs data, Chinese lithium carbonate imports stood at 12,412 mt in November, up 50% MoM and 203% YoY. In terms of country of origin, imports from Chile added 69% MoM, but those from Argentina fell 31% MoM.

According to customs data, China imported 14,521 mt of refined nickel (including unwrought unalloyed nickel with a total amount of nickel and cobalt ≥99.99% and cobalt ≤0.005%, and other unwrought unalloyed nickel) in November 2022.

China imported 127,312 mt of lead concentrates in November, a surge of 113.63% on the month and a year-on-year decrease of 10.11%.

According to the customs, China imported 358,300 mt of copper cathode in November 2022, up 43.95% on the month and 10.07% on the year, hitting a new monthly high. The imports totalled 3.32 million mt from January to November, up 9.36% YoY.

Customs data showed that China imported 4.17 million mt of nickel ore in November, down 12% month-on-month and up 4% year-on-year.

In summary, the smelters are likely to be plagued by the low processing fees and sluggish terminal demand.
