China imported 45,300 mt of refined zinc in June, up 153.06% on the month and 1,796.03% on the year. The imports totalled 98,300 mt in the first half of 2023, up 100.53% YoY.

According to Customs data, China’s zinc concentrate imports in June 2023 were 390,600 mt (physical content), an increase of 13.49% month-on-month, and a year-on-year increase of 33.16%. YTD import volume of zinc concentrate through June was 2.2782 million mt (physical content), an increase of 25.36% year-on-year.

As of last Friday, Yangshan copper premiums with a quotation period in June stood at $39.2-54.2/mt (for spot cargoes) under warrants during June 5-9, with the average up $3.6/mt from a week earlier. Those stood between $51.4-66.4/mt under bill of lading with a quotation period in July, with the average flat from the prior week.
