Eastern Ontario municipalities have applied for federal and provincial money to bring ultra-high-speed internet to the region.
The project, put together by the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), would cost up to $1.6 billion and the network wants $200 million apiece from the two levels of government.

After months of dickering with the federal government, the network made its formal application for what it calls its Gig Project to Maryam Monsef, federal minister responsible for rural economic development, and Laurie Scott, provincial infrastructure minister.
