On a night when Kraken rookie Matty Beniers scored his second goal in as many games at Climate Pledge Arena, some other Seattle newcomers helped push this meeting with the Senators toward the win column. After Victor Rask set up Daniel Sprong for the games first score on an impressive shot, Rask showed off his marksmanship late second period to provide what turned out to be Mondays game-winning goal.

Deploying a combination of young players and wizened veterans, the Los Angeles Kings pulled off what Kraken coach Dave Hakstol would dearly love to see his squad do. The division rival jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the first 25 minutes, then played aggressively enough to generate scoring chances while minimizing the same from Seattle.

The Kraken won most of the puck battles through two periods on this final game of a Central Division road trip with three games in four nights against a trio of teams that all boast top-six NHL home records.

After trading first-period power-play goals, the Kraken and visiting Philadelphia played a tight game that suddenly fizzed and frazzled with five-and-a-half minutes left in regulation, then advanced to overtime. Philadelphia defenseman Ivan Provorov scored the game winner with 2:46 remining in OT.

By games end, the Kraken earned every decimal of the two standings points, defeating the Pacific Division leader Edmonton, 4-3. As usual, the Kraken crowd was Seattle-worthy loud and once again resoundingly entertained. The final minute was basically a 6-on-4 Edmonton advantage (empty net and questionable penalty call on Larsson) with the worlds best two scorers on the ice for the division leaders.

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 17 shots he saw Friday as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Kraken 3-0 at Amalie Arena. It was the first time the Kraken have been shut out and for Vasilevskiy it was career shutout 28 for the 27-year-old and second this year.

Forty-three seconds after Jaden Schwartz gave the Kraken a 2-1 lead in the second period, Calle Jarnkrok sent an outlet pass to Yanni Gourde. The high-energy alternate captain streaked up ice on the left side, skating deep into the Washington defensive zone before sending a cross-ice pass to defenseman Adam Larsson.

Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer circled Nov. 19 on the calendar from the first day of the NHL free agency period when he signed with Seattle and left his No. 1 role for the Colorado Avalanche. But the date to outduel his ex-teammates now pushes to a Jan. 10 road game at Colorado.

When the Kraken celebrated their first win of the season, defenseman Haydn Fleury was in street clothes sitting next to player-of-the-night Vince Dunn (as decided by captain Mark Giordano).

Thats more like it. After six games of near-misses and answering too many media questions about finishing scoring chances, the Kraken offense earned a 5-1 win over visiting Montreal.
