Legislators from different countries question the legality of loot boxes as research has claimed ties to gambling problems, but bans are hard to enact. Previous laws and restrictions have failed to fully remove loot boxes from games, in part because of loopholes game developers exploit. Studies on loot boxes have yet to confirm they cause gambling addiction, only that they are linked to gambling problems.
