Chennai, Feb 27 (PTI) Six fishermen, belonging to southern Tamil Nadu, recently jailed in Sri Lanka following their arrest, arrived here on Tuesday after they were released by the island nation, officials said.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday urged the Centre to ensure the early repatriation of the Indian fishermen arrested in Sri Lanka recently.
25 Indian fishermen, who were fishing in international waters, were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy along with their two trawlers, off Point Pedro town in Sri Lanka.
The court in the northern Jaffna peninsula ordered the release of the fishermen who were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy in mid-December in the seas south of Mannar.
