China dispatched three vessels to assist with recovering the remains of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine, which sank in the waters north of Bali on April 21, killing all 53 people on board. Indonesian submarine rescue team lifts two life rafts from sea floor

Indonesian submarine rescue team lifts two life rafts from sea floor Jakarta Indonesia's navy said that an operation to retrieve parts of a submarine that sunk with 53 people on board last month has been able to pull up two life rafts from the bottom of the sea. The German-made KRI Nanggala-402 lost contact during a torpedo firing exercise on April 21. An international search team involving Singapore, Australia and Malaysia found the submarine four days later, sunken and broken into three at a depth of more than 800 metres north of Bali, DPA reported. Indonesian navy second fleet commander Rear Admiral Iwan Isnurwanto said on Tuesday that each of the life rafts weighed 700 kilograms.

Sunken Indonesian Submarine Retrieval Ongoing With China's Assistance, Why Did It Sink? | HNGN

HEADLINES & GLOBAL NEWS By   (Photo : Ulet Ifansasti/Getty Images) The Indonesian Submarine retrieval will have Chinese assistance to haul it from the seabed at 838m, which requires deep-sea vehicles to accomplish that. One of the biggest questions is how did it happen. Indonesian Submarine retrieval is underway to know its circumstances The Indonesian navy experts say an internal solitary wave caused the sinking of KRI Nanggala 402 and the losses of its 53 crew, which is known to occur in the seas around Bali, which is a normal phenomenon. It seems the sub was caught unaware by the deep-sea wave, report RNZ.
