According to the DOH’s weekly case bulletin, the daily case average for the week was 200. This was lower compared to the 209 average recorded from April 18 to 24, with 1,465 total new COVID-19 infections.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said the government has embarked on various strategies to bring vaccination closer to the people such as through house-to-house inoculation, among others. Año said 750 cities and municipalities out of 1,634 local government units participated in this drive, which also focused on giving the shots to senior citizens.
“Ang problema kasi itong false news. It can spread immediately and the problem is may mga taong naniniwala. So walang mga caveat, there’s not warning basta mababasa nila na ganoon,” Duterte said during the weekly Talk to the People.
"The government is still studying. Whether it will push through or not will depend on the outcome of the study," acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said in a text message. "It was an idea that PRRD (Duterte) strongly wanted DOH (Department of Health) to consider to solve this unused vaccine problem, and to have the unvaccinated vaccinated," he added.
More than 66.1 million individuals or 73.47% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The DOH said 12.1 million have received their booster shots.
