The World Health Organization (WHO) and Ghana’s Ministry of Health have confirmed a Marburg virus outbreak in the country’s Ashanti region. The Ebola-like disease had two fatalities in the end of June, and an investigative team had been deployed to study and contain the Marburg virus. The virus comes from fruit bats, and transmits to humans through direct contact, bodily fluids, and surfaces that host the infection. The disease has up to an 88 percent fatality rate in cases.
