This talk is part of the Civil War Institute civil war conference, about an hour. Good morning again. I am Peter Carmichael. Member of the History Department at Gettysburg College. Im also the director of the Civil War Institute. It is my pleasure this morning to introduce to you Patrick Green whos an associate professor in history and classics at providence college. I should note hes also the father of one of our High School Scholarship recipients from last year, correct . She came here and enjoyed herself im sure. Patrick is the author of the land shall be deluged in blood, a new history of nat turners revolt published by Oxford University press. It is a book that i assigned to my undergraduates this spring. And as we all know undergraduates, theyre tough customers when it comes to books. They absolutely enjoy mr. Greens scholarship and especially his writing. It is a bold book, it is an important book and one of the things that patrick and i talked about it is just its just a shame.
Quayle versus ross perots running mate, admiral james stockdale. Fourth place was 2012. That was paul ryan versus joe biden. But look at the top three. Turns out america likes women. Who would have thunk . We at least like women on tv competing against men to be Vice President of the united states. The top three most watched Vice President ial debates of all time are the three with women in them. 1984, Geraldine Ferraro versus george bush. 2008, joe biden versus sarah palin. Senator harris and her husband onstage. Vice president pence and his wife on

You could have evidence presented, both sides could give their side and then a judgment could be made that would keep the u. S. Out of it, keep the u. S. Out of taking the lead. It would certainly give the president an opportunity to duck out of this red line. Do you think syria would be able to participate in that . Caller i think for the United States to respond just with weapons as the president seems determined to do, it is going to create blowback. It always happens and will probably create more terrorists than not. I think personally we are a nation of justice and a nation of laws. The moral leadership would be to go to an International Court where the whole world could view a fair trial that is carried on by people in the hague where people have no ties to syria. He could all stand back and brought toce whomever is resp
