Michigan-based artificial intelligence and data science firm Soothsayer Analytics announced Thursday it has chosen Windsor for its Canadian headquarters.
The company, which also operates in Europe, India and the Middle East, expects to open its office in Windsor within two to three months.

“Recognizing that Canada is undergoing a major digital transformation, Soothsayer cannot imagine a better place for expansion,” said Soothsayer’s CEO Gaurav Agrawal.
“Our highly unique abilities in advanced analytics and artificial intelligence will provide an unparalleled offering to companies looking for a competitive edge in the Canadian market and we look forward to collaborating with local companies to build world-class solutions to complex and meaningful problems.”

The Invest WindsorEssex initiative was seven months in the making and will include in-kind investments from private sector partners as well as partnerships with Windsor’s post-secondary institutions.
Its aim is to continue the region’s transformation from traditional auto assembly through automation into a centre of high-tech innovation and development to make it the Canadian capital of auto mobility.
Among the elements included in the proposal are creating several mobility/entrepreneurship accelerators specific to the sector, establish positions in local post-secondary institutions to liaison with industry, develop talent pipelines, create an IT auto mobility hub and simulator lab for software development, support the growing local cyber security sector, battery production, establish an electric powertrain commercialization centre, build mobility and data platforms along with recruiting new talent and companies.

The Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation has spent $50,000 to rebrand itself with a new name, logo and website. The latter was created by a group based outside the region leaving some community members wondering why website creation couldn t be kept local.

The WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation has new name and a new brand now called Invest WindsorEssex.
Two divisions within Invest WindsorEssex have also undergone changes as part of the rebrand. The WindsorEssex Small Business Centre (SBC) is now operating as the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC), and has launched a new website, webusinesscentre.com. The Institute for Border Logistics and Security (IBLS) is now operating as Invest WindsorEssex Automobility and Innovation Centre.
“Our regional businesses have evolved their business models over the past year, and we too recognize the need to adapt our organization. As Invest WindsorEssex, our message is clear that we are committed to promoting and advancing economic opportunities in Windsor-Essex in a modern and competitive way,” said Stephen MacKenzie, President and CEO, Invest WindsorEssex.
