January 06, 2021 The Georgia Department of Revenue is shifting to a new system to process vehicle tags and titles. As a result, Fulton County tag offices will be shut down for all motor vehicle transactions from January 12 through January 19, 2021. Fulton County Tax Commissioner Arthur Ferdinand is asking that drivers with January renewals process these as early as possible and before the temporary shutdown. Online, in-person and kiosk transactions will be unavailable during that period. The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) DRIVES (Driver Record and Integrated Vehicle Enterprise System) is upgrading to a new version of the system used by the local tag offices to register and title vehicles. Vehicle registration, titling services, online services and tag renewal kiosks will be unavailable from Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 through Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 so the upgrade can be implemented. During this time, law enforcement will still have access to motor vehicle records through a statewide backup file.
