A perfect moment to grab an Intel powered MacBook Air

A perfect moment to grab an Intel powered MacBook Air Today’s deals start with the previous generation Apple MacBook Air with Intel processors under the hood and a couple of must-have accessories 2 minute read Updated 08 January 2021, 22:15 EST It’s safe to say that Intel-powered MacBook Air models will soon be hard to come across. However, that doesn’t mean that they are bad notebooks. In fact, they are still some of the best laptops you can get in the market, and even more so when they come with a discount. We currently find tons of deals on the previous generation MacBook Air over at B&H Photo Video, where it seems they want to clear them out from inventory. This means great news, as well as great savings for you. For example, you can currently get the Early 2020 Air with a 13.3-inch Retina Display, a 1.1GHz tenth generation Intel Core i3 Dual-Core processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD, and integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics for $899 after a $100 discount. Adobe brings Premiere Pro beta to Apple s M1 Macs

Adobe s M1-native Premiere Pro Beta includes the core editing functions and support for the most widely used codecs: H.264, HEVC, and ProRes. Adobe s tests suggest that the H.264 export times for YouTube on the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro are on par with the 16-inch high-end Intel MacBook Pro and easily beat the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel chip.  Adobe also notes that features like Scene Edit Detection gain a performance boost due to the M1 Macs machine-learning chops. Googlers recently found that the M1 MacBook Pro with its 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine, easily beat a 1.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-based 13-inch MacBook Pro system with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645, 16GB of RAM, and 2TB SSD.

Apple Silicon 13-inch MacBook Pro nearly as fast at machine learning training as 16-inch MacBook Pro

While Apple still needs to fully optimize the M1 processor and its software for the task, a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon performed nearly as well at a machine learning test as the 16-inch MacBook Pro with dedicated Radeon graphics. Benchmarks for the M1 processor have been impressive so far with scores rivaling even the most expensive Intel MacBook Pro configurations. These are early days yet as software continues to be optimized for the processor, so some tasks and processes will see big speed jumps as developers take advantage of the hardware. One space that the M1 processor should excel in is machine learning (ML) processes. As with Apple s A-series chips like the A12Z Bionic, the M1 has a dedicated Neural Engine used for complex data processing and ML. Apple says the M1 Neural Engine can handle up to 11 trillion operations per second when in use.
