The mission has concluded that the solar-powered lander has run out of energy after more than four years on the Red Planet.

InSight's four-year mission is winding down as Martian dust covers the lander's solar panels, draining its power.

Earlier this year, NASA announced the spacecraft was losing power.

NASA has confirmed that Insight has not responded to communications from Earth and its power supplies have been declining for months.

The robot tweets what may be its final photo as it rapidly loses power on the Red Planet.

InSight gathered new information about Mars three major layers – crust, mantle, and core. Scientists found that the crust beneath InSight is somewhat thinner than expected.
