Taipei, Dec. 10 (CNA) Taiwan has officially joined a world body promoting cosmetics regulatory alignment with the aim of maximizing consumer protection while minimizing trade barriers, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Thursday.
Under the name Taiwan FDA, the country became a full member of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR) at an annual meeting held on Dec. 7, FDA s Medical Devices & Cosmetics Division chief Chang Chia-jung (張家榮) told CNA.
Membership will help Taiwan swiftly acquire the latest international rules on cosmetics, reduce technical barriers to international trade and strengthen the safety of consumers, he said.
