One of the region’s airfields plans to expand its terminal and add a new roadway parallel to its runway with a $4 million federal government grant.
The Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, which is located on Autoroute 50 and is an approximately 20-minute drive from downtown Ottawa, is receiving the funds as part of a federal push to support regional air transportation in Quebec.
Owned by the City of Gatineau, the airport primarily serves charter, executive and other private aircraft.
It’s also home to the International Pilot Academy training school as well as Vintage Wings of Canada, a not-for-profit foundation that acquires, maintains and operates planes of historical importance that was founded by former Ottawa tech executive Michael Potter.
