Authorities say the blaze happened last Tuesday on a dairy farm in Rozelville, which is a small community near Stratford in Marathon County. According to reports, the fire started around 5 a.m. in a small barn that was being used as a milking parlor. No people were injured, but a heifer and two calves were lost to the fire. Wisconsin Ag News Headlines Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/23/2020 A state farm organization is crediting U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin for using her position on the Senate Ag Appropriations Committee to secure $22 million in support for Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives in the omnibus spending package approved by Congress this week. The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association says the allocation represents a funding increase of $2 million over the previous year. Senator Baldwin first secured support for the creation of the Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives program in the 2018 Farm Bill, and she has fought for every dollar, every year since, to maximize its impact, said WCMA Director John Umhoefer. We are deeply grateful for her focus on strengthening the dairy industry from farm to vat, and beyond.

Orion Samuelson was presented virtually with a legislative citation by Reps. Loren Oldenburg of Viroqua; Nancy VanderMeer of Tomah; and Sen. Patrick Testin of Stevens Point. Legislative citations are used to congratulate the recipient on their accomplishments on behalf of the Wisconsin State Legislature, and we felt strongly that Mr. Samuelson has earned special recognition for his dedication to farmers and farming, the lawmakers said upon presenting the award.
