The first three episodes of
WandaVision relied very heavily on an overarching mystery angle. There were hints and nods that there was something much greater happening, but nothing substantial was given away in those first three episodes. Every time there was something that could explain the mystery, it was rewound or censored. The fourth episode, titled “We Interrupt This Program,” forgoes this by diving into everything that’s been going on behind the sitcom facade.
Instead of paying homage to shows of the past, this week’s episode tells us how Teyonah Parris’ character, Monica Rambeau (aka Geraldine), ended up in Wanda’s life and why she was catapulted out of it. Starting with Monica re-materializing during the Blip, she finds her way back to a S.H.I.E.L.D.-like organization, called S.W.O.R.D., where she reconnects with her old colleagues after a five-year absence.
WandaVision Might Be Doing Marvel Without a Supervillain
✖
WandaVision isn t as black-and-white as the sitcoms that inspired the Marvel show s earliest episodes: creator Jac Schaefferhints there might not be a traditional supervillain by series end. In Episode 4, We Interrupt This Program, S.W.O.R.D. Agent Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) seemingly uncovers the mystery behind Westview, New Jersey, when she realizes that it s Wanda. It s all Wanda. After the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) ousts Monica from her sitcom-inspired reality where she s married to Vision (Paul Bettany) and the mother of newborn twins, Wanda is almost sinister when she reassures her dead husband: Don t worry, darling. I have everything under control.

WandaVision Gives Jimmy Woo s Introduction a Subtle Callback to Ant-Man and the Wasp
WandaVision Episode 4 not only brings Jimmy Woo back to the MCU, but also includes an unexpected reference to the 2018 film.
For MCU fans, the fourth Episode of
WandaVision, We Interrupt This Program, has proved to be a big relief as it finally disclosed the answers to many of its unfathomable mysteries and put the wildest of theories (some of them were by us) to rest. But it so doesn t mean that it didn t hide its fair share of surprises and Easter eggs- like the arrival of Randall Park s FBI Agent Jimmy Woo and the hilarious reference to
Episode 4 of
According to an online fan theory, the threat was hiding in plain sight this week. Jan 30, 2021
After three truly puzzling weeks of sitcom shenanigans laid over a mounting sense of existential dread, the fourth episode of
WandaVision, entitled We Interrupt This Program, fully broke away from its established format for the first time to show viewers what s been going on outside of Westview all this time.
This meant confirming viewers suspicions that Geraldine, a.k.a. Monica Rambeau, was indeed an interloper, albeit an unwitting one, and that the voice on the radio was Jimmy Woo. We also got a fairly prosaic (and slightly underwhelming) explanation for that truly unsettling image of the beekeeper emerging from the sewers. And perhaps most significantly, we discovered that Wanda and Vision s neighbors, friends and coworkers in Westview are in fact the town s real-life inhabitants, who are all now being forced to play different roles in Wanda s fantasy.
I clearly remember the first time I saw
The Prisoner episode, “Living In Harmony.” The classic, world-building intro is gone and the story immediately begins with star Patrick McGoohan, dressed like a cowboy, riding a horse somewhere in the American West. I was intrigued, then increasingly frustrated, as it seemed liked the narrative would never return to what I’d expected. Indeed, all the standard trappings of the series The Village, the spy vs. spy plots were absent until the episode’s shocking climax, which remains one of my favorite moments in the entire series.
