OLYMPIA — Lawmakers have come to an agreement on the $16 billion state infrastructure package, which will likely include not just the original $1 billion planned for the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program but $1.2 billion.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown wrote an an op-ed Tuesday urging Washington Gov. Jay Inslee to “put this bad idea back on the shelf, where it belongs.”

On Friday, February 25, 5:30-7 p.m., the Interstate Bridge Replacement (IBR) program will host “Black Communities and their Relationships with Infrastructure,” a virtual roundtable discussion highlighting the importance of learning from the history of transportation infrastructure and the resulting displacement of Black communities.

The bridge that carries I-5 to Hayden Island from the Oregon side of the river is also slated to be replaced as part of the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program.
